
The state of Pennsylvania currently follows federal requirements for prescription pads as set forth by the CMS. In addition the state has pending legislature, if passed:
- As of May 6, 2015 Pennsylvania has pending legislation that would mandate the use of an official state prescription pad to be used in the prescribing of controlled substances in Schedules II, III, IV, and V.
- Under the new law official state prescription pads will be issued by the Secretary of Health
State Requirements
All states are required to meet the baseline standards set forth by the CMS. Several states have Prescription Monitoring Programs that require prescription pads to have specific security features.
