UL/969 Certified Labels and ISO 9001:2015 Certification
Need UL-certified labels that hold up in the field? As a UL-authorized label supplier with ISO 9001:2015 certification, Wise is here to help.
What are UL certified labels?
UL certified labels are durable labels built to the UL 969 standard for permanent product identification. Depending on the industry and application, you may hear them called UL listed stickers, UL certified equipment tags, or UL nameplates, but they all serve the same purpose: to mark a product with safety, compliance, and identification information that stays legible and adhered for the life of the product.
Wise is a UL-authorized label supplier with decades of experience. Our knowledge of UL labels and the UL 969 standard, as well as CSA C22.2 No. 0.15 for parts destined for Canadian locations, allows us to fully support our customers’ needs. With numerous UL-approved material options, Wise can build the ideal construction and provide the expertise to meet your UL labeling requirements.
What is the UL 969 standard?
UL’s Marking and Labeling Systems Program (UL 969) is the standard for permanent product identification. Products requiring UL compliance may be marked with cautions, safety requirements, hazards, warnings, electrical ratings, or installation instructions. These labels must adhere throughout the product’s lifecycle. The program gives product manufacturers a convenient way to locate a reputable label manufacturer and acquire labels that meet all marking performance requirements applicable to their UL-certified products.
Where are UL labels used?
UL labels, tags, and nameplates are commonly found on electrical components such as outdoor and industrial electronics, household appliances, lighting equipment, cooking equipment, and control boxes, along with many other applications. Because they live in demanding environments, they must be long-lasting and durable, standing up to moisture, ultraviolet rays, gasoline splashes, corrosive chemicals, and other harsh conditions.
What types of UL labels can Wise produce?
With quarterly audits and inspections by a UL company auditor, Wise is fully authorized to preprint UL certified labels and deliver them fully functional and compliant, known as UL’s Category Code PGDQ2 (PGDQ8 in Canada). We can also produce UL’s Category Code PGJI2 (PGJI8 in Canada) labels in either printed or blank formats.
Combination-printed UL labels pair preprinted press graphics with variable information imprinted by thermal transfer, most often by the end user for immediate variable data. Blank UL labels are often printed on-site at the end user’s manufacturing location. For customers who prefer to print their own UL labels in-house, we can also recommend and supply UL-compliant thermal transfer ribbons and printers.
How do you order UL labels from Wise?
Wise is a trade-only manufacturer, which means we produce UL certified labels for print distributors and resellers, not for end users, so your customer relationships always stay yours. Whether your customer needs preprinted UL labels, blank UL-ready stock, or a combination format, we can recommend the right material construction and produce it to spec. To order UL labels or discuss a project, contact your Wise Regional Sales Manager or request a quote.
