Job Description:
A press operator is responsible for producing printed documents per customer specifications as stated on the job ticket. Press operators should produce these documents efficiently while maintaining the highest level of quality possible.
Primary Skills:
- Unwavering attention to detail and a high level of mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to handle the stress needed to make multiple simultaneous adjustments to the equipment to maintain consistent quality during the length of the run.
- Have ability to stay focused and to concentrate completely during the press run to insure quality and prevent personal injury.
- Have the ability to follow direction and work independently.
- Have great eye/hand/foot coordination and perform work using two or more.
- Have the agility and stamina to perform duties during entire shift.
Requirements:
- Ability to stand continuously for 8 to 10 hours.
- Ability to lift 50 to 150 pounds routinely.
- Ability to match paper, ink, perforations, and punching to the specifications on the job ticket.
- Ability to perform minor maintenance and repair.
- Have knowledge of equipment, practices, and procedures common to the printing industry.
- Have sufficient knowledge of safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe environment for self and others.
- Have sufficient knowledge of the chemicals and ink used in the printing process.
- Communicate well with others involved in the printing process.
- Consistently meet established production and quality standards for the press and type of jobs being produced.
Secondary Duties:
These duties will be preformed time permitting or as needed:
- Gather supplies and prepare for upcoming orders while press is running.
- Help identify areas for cost savings and process improvement.
- Other duties determined by management.
